Instead, most universities require you to add your exam number, or university membership number on the front cover page, and towards the top every page. Check your university submission guidelines to find out what you are required to do.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Presentation \/ Word Processing: <\/strong>Most universities require students to word process all of their coursework, and you&#8217;ll find that all universities are very strict about the type and the size of the font you can use, and the spacing between lines. Most universities want submissions to be double spaced, 11\/12pt in size and using the Times New Roman font. You will need to check your universities guidelines before submitting your law coursework. All work should be submitted on A4 paper, and sometimes universities set rules on the top, right, bottom and left margins so once again, look in your course handbook for these.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sources and Referencing: <\/strong>You will find that a lot of universities will provide students with a handbook, and within this the universities point out exactly how they want sources to be cited, and how to set out references and bibliographies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Length of Coursework<\/strong>: You will be told from the onset the length of your law coursework, and this can vary depending on your module, the level you are studying at, and how much the piece is weighted towards your final grade.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What The Examiners Are Looking For In Your Law Coursework<\/h2>\n<p>Essays, coursework pieces and dissertations are set so that students can be assessed on how well they&#8217;ve understood a topic.<\/p>\n<p>In order to give the examiners what they are looking for, you will be expected to have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>consulted the principal sources of information.<\/li>\n<li>the ability to analyse issues well.<\/li>\n<li>provided good reasoning within the piece.<\/li>\n<li>put forward your own ideas, arguments and conclusions within the coursework.<\/li>\n<li>written clearly, articulately and relevantly.<\/li>\n<li>Start by reading the general sources and then moving onto the more specific sources which relate to your law coursework.<\/li>\n<li>Break down the essay into manageable pieces, and use headings to break up sections.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that everything you input into the essay is relevant.<\/li>\n<li>When citing quotes, studies or articles ensure that you are consistent with the citation throughout the piece.<\/li>\n<li>Write clearly, and avoid long sentences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Submitting The Coursework<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Obviously, you will be expected to submit your law coursework on time, however all universities should have an extension policy.<\/li>\n<li>If you should require an extension to your submission date you should contact your head of department at the earliest possible time.<\/li>\n<li>Universities only allow students to submit their law coursework at a later date if they suffer from exceptional circumstances, such as the death of an immediate family member, or ill health.
