{"id":521,"date":"2018-10-12T12:38:46","date_gmt":"2018-10-12T12:38:46","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2025-02-18T14:52:55","modified_gmt":"2025-02-18T14:52:55","slug":"final-evaluation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lawteacher.net\/law-help\/essay\/final-evaluation.php","title":{"rendered":"Final Law Essay Evaluation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Final Evaluation of Your Law Essay<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You need to read over your work for a final time before you submit it.<\/p>\n<p>Initially this will be to check your spelling and grammar, but you must also consider carefully the most common mistakes made by students answering law essay\/problem questions, which are costly in terms of marks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>These are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The student fails to answer the question or neglects part of the question<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Usually every fact given in the question will be relevant so consider each in turn and look at whether they give rise to any legal issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>The student fails to address what is being asked of them:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>For example, you were asked to \u2018discuss\u2019 an issue but you presented a one-sided-argument.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>The essay is poorly structured, perhaps missing an introduction or failing to reach a conclusion based on the evidence presented:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Check through your essay before handing it in.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure you go through our <a href=\"\/law-help\/essay\/structure_of_essays.php\">law reports and essays structure section<\/a>, or <a href=\"\/law-help\/dissertation\/structure_of_dissertations.php\">dissertation structure section<\/a> and make sure your piece of work is structured in a similar fashion!<\/li>\n<li>Does the conclusion follow the arguments you presented in your essay, or do you change your mind randomly at the end of the essay? The latter will not earn you a good grade.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>The arguments are weak, not supported by evidence\/reason or authority, or are non-existent.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>You will need to include relevant arguments in your work, and searching through sources and articles is the ideal way to find material that supports your own ideas.<\/li>\n<li>Do not make up reasons or arguments to support your work as this will only lead to you scoring a low grade.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>The materials used are not properly referenced or no supporting material is cited. <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Again, search through books, journals, articles and legal documents to find relevant material to support the ideas and conclusions you present.<\/li>\n<li>Learn how to correctly reference your materials.
