{"id":520,"date":"2018-03-07T09:27:02","date_gmt":"2018-03-07T09:27:02","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2025-02-18T14:39:54","modified_gmt":"2025-02-18T14:39:54","slug":"structure-of-dissertations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lawteacher.net\/law-help\/dissertation\/structure-of-dissertations.php","title":{"rendered":"Example Law Dissertation Structure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Writing Structure For Law Dissertations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The structure of a dissertation is quite similar to a report.<\/p>\n<p>Although it will depend very much on what you are presenting, the following is an acceptable structure for a law dissertation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Title Page<\/strong> \u2013 showing the title of the dissertation and the author<\/li>\n<li><strong>Abstract<\/strong> \u2013 summarising what the reader can expect to find in the dissertation. Be concise and don\u2019t reference or use quotes in this part (150 \u2013 300 words)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Table of contents<\/strong> \u2013 not including the title and contents page!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Introduction<\/strong> \u2013 this should be a short summary 100 \u2013 200 words) of what the objectives are\/what you are going to write about. Background \u2013 this should assume the reader knows nothing and give them a full account of what they need to know to appreciate the issues at stake<\/li>\n<li><strong>Methodology <\/strong>\u2013 what you are going to do and how you plan on doing it (200 \u2013 300 words)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Literature Review<\/strong> \u2013 a review of relevant theory and the most recent published information on the issue.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Evidence<\/strong> \u2013 what you have discovered and what you have concluded from it. This most not simply be descriptive but must make a considered analysis of the findings, moving towards a detailed and visionary strategy for development.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Conclusion<\/strong> \u2013 what you have discovered and what you have concluded from it. This must not simply be descriptive but must make a considered analysis of the findings, moving towards a detailed and visionary strategy for development.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recommendations<\/strong> \u2013 where appropriate.
